What to expect at your fitting

Most women have never had a proper fitting, and the not-knowing is the worst part of it. So here is the whole thing, start to finish.

Before I arrive

You'll answer a few questions when you book — what you're wearing now, what bothers you about it, what you're hoping for. I use those answers to pull inventory before I leave, so I arrive with bras chosen for you rather than a car full of guesses.

When I get there

We talk first, usually about ten minutes. What digs in, what rides up, what you've stopped bothering with. Then a quick measurement, which takes about a minute — though the tape is only a starting point. Your size gets decided by how bras actually sit on you, not by a number.

The fitting itself

Undress to your point of comfort. Most women take their top off; plenty keep a bra on for the first few minutes. Both work.

I'll ask before we start, and I'll give you a heads-up before I touch you — no surprises. Usually I'll hold the bra while you lean into it, fasten the band behind you and set the straps. Then I'll check how the band is sitting, whether the wire is lying flat, and how the cups are holding you.

If you'd rather put each bra on yourself and have me come back in to adjust it, that's completely fine — just say so. This is your fitting and you're in charge of it the whole way through.

You're welcome to bring someone. Mothers, daughters, sisters and best friends come along all the time.

What I'm looking for

• The band sits level and does most of the work
• The wire lies flat against your ribcage, under the breast rather than on it
• The cup holds everything, with no spilling and no gaping
• The center panel sits flat against your breastbone
• The straps aren't digging, and aren't carrying the weight

I'll talk you through what I'm seeing as we go. Most women tell me they leave knowing how to spot a bad fit for themselves, which is worth more than any single bra.

How long, and what it costs

Around 90 minutes. Free, including travel within 100 miles of Denver, NC. There's no obligation to buy anything, and plenty of women don't.

If you're bringing a group

Everyone gets their own one-to-one time, and the rest of you usually have a drink while you wait. Groups of 2 to 10+, no hosting fee and no minimum purchase.
